Descending the design funnel

This activity came from Bill Buxton’s Sketching User Experiences. It was a great exercise in which the objective is to get as many ideas on paper as you can, and then refine the best. In this task, the idea was to come up with fun interesting ideas that connect two phones with a handshake. My favorite is the idea of the Stereo Selfie, which generates an interesting artifact along with the intention to connect the phones in the first place. You can imagine it having some filters or brands opportunities, so people could use it an festivals to exchange photos or phone numbers.

Learning to sketch

Among the most daunting skills for me to learn this year is sketching to communicate my ideas. Here I am working with my group on a Sketching User Experiences activity on collaborative sketching. In this exercise, we were tasked with jointly sketching in a whiteboard space, and what we see is that our bodies get in the way. Initially, my colleague Kathy on the left said she and I should be on the left because we’re left-handed. But later she noted that it is the other way around, if we were sketching on the right our bodies wouldn’t obscure the the sketch surface.
